Chapter 1: Becoming a Teacher
Joyful
- When the chapter mentioned that most teachers teach because they love the subject, I was filled with joy. This is the exact reason why I want to become a teacher. I love math and I want to teach students math so they will hopefully love it as much as I love it.
- As a student, I thought it was joyful when the book mentioned that teachers should believe in their students. The teachers that believed in me and were interested in me were my favorite. I want to be the teacher that my students want to see everyday because they love my class.
- I have helped my sister with her schoolwork since she started school. I loved it when she "got" a concept I was explaining. As a teacher this would be a great experience every time one of my students "got" the concept.
Not Joyful
- I was not joyful when the use of creative lesson plans was mentioned. I am not a very creative person so this is going to be a difficult task for me when I become a teacher.
- The idea of students having to pass standardized assessments is not a joyful thought. I do not want to become one of those teachers who simply teach to the test.
- I do not like the thought of having to move to find a job. I love where I live and I love Maine. I do not want to have to move to get a job.
